AUTOMATIC WATERING CONTROL TOOLS
WATER LEVEL MONITORING FOR PLANTED CORROLES
Our customer offers solutions for refreshing cities with plants by creating islands of coolness. This urban furniture consists of a structure covered with plants and a pot containing the substrate.
In order to monitor the development of the plants and anticipate the need to fill up the water reserve, we were asked to develop a system to monitor soil and climate data, i.e. the air temperature, the humidity of the soil and the level of water in the tank.
Our system consists of a sensor head and a transmission box. The data collected by the temperature sensor, the two earth humidity sensors and the water level sensor in the tank are sent once an hour to a server. Based on this data, a response is given with a pump control time.
IN THE BEGINNING
A start-up consults us for the industrialization of a water level sensor and the design of its data transmission box
CONTEXT
A structure, covered with plants such as Virginia creeper or wisteria, is installed on street furniture with the aim of refreshing cities through plants.
SOLUTION
EFS managed the entire process of industrializing the water level sensor and designing the control box.
WATER LEVEL SENSOR
Customer problem
Steel pots containing substrate are equipped with a water reservoir coupled to an intelligent, autonomous drip irrigation system powered by solar energy. In order to carry out watering as close as possible to the need, our customer wanted to know the water level in the tank.
EFS response
Design and integration of the sensor head electronics and control module.
Advantages of the solution
- Pump/EV control
- Water level measurement
- Sending/receiving data
- Bidirectional communication with a server
